Vexcel Imagery & Data Services
Overview
For over 30 years, Vexcel has operated in the photogrammetry, geospatial, and remote sensing space. Using its market-leading cameras and a dedicated fleet of fixed-wing aircraft, Vexcel collects high-resolution aerial imagery and property data in more than over 40 countries.
Vexcel’s ready-to-use aerial data powers insights for global providers in the property insurance sector, from underwriting to claims to SIU and innovation. It’s imagery also supports a growing international customer base across public and private sectors—including technology, mapping, government, utilities, and telecommunications.
Since 01 Jan 25, the Vexcel Insurance Programme has been available to the London insurance market as an elective service within the LIMOSS Market Geospatial Services (MGS) Panel.
Note: This services programme was originally branded under the Geospatial Insurance Consortium (GIC) and Vexcel. It is now fully operated under the Vexcel brand.
Under its Imagery and Data Services, Vexcel provides:
- High-resolution aerial imagery to help insurers quickly view properties and evaluate value for risk and coverage. Includes top-down ortho and multispectral imagery in all areas and oblique imagery in major cities.
- Disaster response imagery (called ‘Gray Sky’) collected after major disasters such as cyclones, hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, or tornadoes. This post-CAT imagery supports rapid claims assessment and provides detailed insights into damage at specific locations.
- Property-level damage assessment after Gray Sky imagery collections, including colour-coded building footprints and damage ratings. This helps claims teams and adjusters pinpoint damage, triage field teams, respond quickly, and estimate risk at the parcel level.
- AI insights: Vexcel uses AI and machine learning on its aerial imagery to extract property features like pools, solar panels, roof attributes, and tree cover—providing a valuable dataset to help with risk assessment, underwriting, and fraud detection.
- Remote access to geographic areas with high-resolution imagery at 7.5cm resolution in urban areas and nationwide coverage in select countries at 15cm, including cities and rural regions. Vexcel’s aerial imagery offers greater detail and accuracy than satellite imagery and broader coverage than drones.
- Current and historical, time-stamped imagery to support fraud investigations, validate claims, and track property changes over time.
- Remote access to geographic areas with high-resolution imagery at 7.5cm resolution in urban areas and nationwide coverage in select countries at 15cm, including cities and rural regions. Vexcel’s aerial imagery offers greater detail and accuracy than satellite imagery and broader coverage than drones.
