Geo Insurance Consortium (Vexcel/GIC)

Overview

For nearly 30 years, Vexcel has operated in the photogrammetric and remote sensing space. Since 2017, Vexcel has been the operations partner of the Geospatial Insurance Consortium (GIC), collecting and delivering high-resolution aerial imagery and property data in over 40 countries for the insurance market. Their data powers insights for c90% of US providers in the property insurance market with a growing global customer base.

Since 01 Jan 25, Vexcel/GIC has been available to the London insurance market as an elective service within the LIMOSS Market Geospatial Services (MGS) Panel.

Vexcel/GIC provides:

  • Access to high-resolution imagery and data to give insurers the ability to quickly assess properties and assess value to determine how much coverage is needed.
  • Exposure analysis (pre/post Cat) via AI-powered assessment. Post-Catastrophe imagery includes specialised 'Gray Sky' data offered after severe natural catastrophes affecting Vexcel/GIC covered territories – (E.g. tropical cyclones, tornadoes, floods, hail, or earthquakes). This enables swift claims assessment and adjustment, providing policyholders with immediate and detailed insights into the extent of damages at specific locations.
  • Easy remote viewing of a geographic area. US and UK example Resolution: 7.5cm resolution for urban areas; 15-20cm resolution for rural areas
  • Advanced current and historic imagery to support insurance fraud investigators
  • Data Analytics to allow Underwriters to measure directly on a property or, using AI attributes, to quickly identify key features in the surrounding areas.
